FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any further questions, please contact us. We look forward to working with you.
  • Can SleekEven customize hybrid abrasive formulations?
Yes. Beyond diameter (0.3-2.5 mm), grit (24#-240#), color and length, hybrid filament allows tuning of the diamond-to-silicon-carbide blend ratio and grit mix - matched to your stone hardness, pass sequence and finish target. OEM and ODM programs cover spec review, samples and series production.
  • How long does hybrid filament last compared with pure silicon carbide?
Hybrid filament outlasts pure silicon carbide filament on stone because the diamond grains sustain cutting after the silicon carbide portion wears down, and diamond's hardness slows overall strand wear. It sits between pure silicon carbide and pure diamond: longer life than SiC, shorter than diamond, at a cost closer to SiC.
  • Can hybrid abrasive filament run wet and dry?
Yes. Hybrid filament runs in both wet and dry processes. On stone lines it usually runs wet: water cools the surface, carries slurry away and improves finish consistency. The PA612 matrix has very low moisture absorption, so the filament keeps its stiffness in water-based slurry.
  • What grit sizes and diameters are available for hybrid filament?
GrindX hybrid filament is offered in standard grits 24#, 36#, 46#, 60#, 80#, 120#, 180# and 240# with diameters from 0.3 to 2.5 mm and a standard length of 1250 mm. Blend ratios between diamond and silicon carbide can also be tuned for OEM orders.
  • How does hybrid filament cut abrasive cost without sacrificing finish?
Diamond is the most expensive part of a filament. In a hybrid strand, cheap and sharp silicon carbide does the bulk removal while a smaller diamond loading handles fine cutting and life. You pay for diamond only where it earns its keep, so abrasive cost per brush drops while finish quality stays close to pure diamond.
  • Which stone types suit hybrid abrasive filament best?
Hybrid filament is engineered for medium-hard stone: marble, engineered and quartz surfaces, limestone, and softer granites. It handles slab grinding, surface honing, polish preparation and textured anti-slip finishes, where its silicon carbide content removes stock fast while diamond maintains finish quality.
  • When should I choose hybrid filament instead of pure diamond filament?
Choose hybrid filament for medium-hard stone and cost-sensitive programs; choose pure diamond for hard stone, maximum service life and finest finishes. Hybrid delivers balanced performance at a lower abrasive cost per brush, typically on marble, engineered stone and softer granites.
  • What is hybrid abrasive filament and how does it work?
Hybrid abrasive filament is a PA612 nylon monofilament loaded with a blend of diamond and green silicon carbide grit. The silicon carbide grains handle fast bulk removal while the diamond grains sustain fine cutting and extend brush life, giving balanced performance at a lower abrasive cost per brush than pure diamond filament.
